Twelfth Step House of San Diego, also known as Heartland House, has been around since 1960. It's all about community and peer support here. Residents share responsibilities and help each other out, creating a real sense of camaraderie. The program includes daily 12-step meetings, life skills training, and relapse prevention to help folks stay sober for the long haul. Reviews are a mixed bag. Many people love the caring staff and say the programs really work, but there are serious concerns about racial discrimination from some staff and residents. Think about these points when deciding if Heartland House feels right for you. Low-cost facility ($): Affordable or free with insurance. Payment assistance likely available.
